Rules & Etiquette

To preserve the tradition of the game of golf, players should also practice good golf etiquette before, during and after their round of golf; your behaviour will have an effect on everyone around you:

Mulligans are not allowed.

Trolleys are not permitted on tees, bunkers, aprons or greens.

  • Repair all divots.
  • Repair your own pitch mark and one other.
  • Rake all bunkers correctly.

Strictly 2 persons/2 bags per buggy.


Slow play affects everyone playing behind you.
Please make a conscious effort to complete your round in no more than 4 hours and 20 minutes.
This helps ensure that everyone enjoys their game at Santana Golf.

  • Shirt with collars and sleeves.
  • Slacks.
  • Tailored knee-length shorts and short socks.
  • Trainers, tennis shoes, rubbed dimpled, ordinary casual shoes and/or jeans are not permitted on the golf course.
  • Golf shoes with soft spikes only.

We welcome pets on the course under the following conditions:

  • Pets must remain in a specially designed bag or cage at all times.
  • They must not make disruptive noises.
  • Owners must seek prior approval from Club staff before bringing their pets.

For the comfort and safety of all our guests, pets that may distract or disturb other players are not allowed. This includes animals that:

  • Roam freely, even if restrained by a leash.
  • Bark or make loud noises.
  •  

Please note pets are not permitted in the Restaurant under any circumstances.

  • Handicap Certificates are compulsory. Maximum Handicap: Ladies 34 – Men 26
  • Golfers booking in smaller groups than 4-Ball games may be teamed up. The Management reserves the right to make up 4-Balls at their discretion.
  • Players should check in the Caddie Masters’ office 30 minutes before their starting time and make an appearance at the Tee 15 minutes before.
  • Picnics are not allowed at all on our premises; nor the distribution of food and/or drinks.
  • Santana Golf uses a secure payment system by link. A payment link will be sent for the confirmation and payment of your reservation. Please contact our Reservations Department to confirm the details and conditions of your booking.

Local Rules

Out of bounds is defined as ground that is beyond the boundaries of the course. When defined by white lines, the line itself is out of bounds. When defined by a fence or stakes, the inside edges define the out of bounds line.
“Out of Bounds” areas are defined by white stakes or lines, or in some cases a fence or wall.

A water hazard is any lake, sea, pond, river, ditch, stream, or other open water course, whether or not containing water. All ground and water within the hazard is part of the water hazard.
“Water Hazards” are defined by yellow stakes or lines.
“Lateral Water Hazards” are defined by red stakes or lines.

  • All artificial surface roads and paths
  • All bridges
  • All notice boards, seats and shelters

Stones in bunkers are movable obstructions (Rule 24-1 applies).

All fixed sprinkler heads are immovable obstructions and relief may be obtained under Rule 24-2.
In addition, if such an obstruction on or within two clubs length of the putting green to the hole been played intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may obtain relief without penalty as follows: if the ball lies off the putting green, not in a hazard, and within two clubs length of the intervening obstruction, it may be lifted, cleaned and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay, which:

a) Is not nearer the hole
b) Avoids such interference
c) Is not in a hazard or on a putting green

a) Ground damaged by machinery is deemed G.U.R. and relief may be taken under Rule 25-1b
b) Play is prohibited from all areas marked “Ground Under Repair”, denoted by Blue Stakes

The use of Bluetooth speakers or any other music devices is strictly prohibited on the course.
